FAQs
1. What is nSpike?
nSpike AB is a Swedish company that specializes in capturing information from people.
2. What is Spikeflow?
Spikeflow is a software for developing e-form services in a speedy and maintainable fashion. You can build your on-line forms fast, introduce changes quickly, and integrate them with your existing enterprise applications or 3rd party web services with ease. Refer to our
product introduction.
3. What is a flow?
A flow (or information flow) in the Spikeflow context is a set of web pages intelligently linked together through business rules. The rules govern how the pages change when people use the flow. A person using a flow can enter information on-line in a "wizard" fashion, with the sequence of pages displayed to him being tailored based on the information he enters. For example, in a flow for a Medical Insurance Claim, the page for "Pregnancy Details" will be shown only to users who have selected the "Female" gender in a previous page. Thus unnecessary information is not requested from the user.
A flow can have Field and Page validation; one cannot proceed to the next page unless the information given falls within specified boundaries. For example, one cannot enter text when requested for a Date (field validation) and one cannot go to the next page unless the sum of two Amounts you specify is greater than USD 100.00 (page validation). Please see our example flow.
The Spikeflow Creator is the desktop application that is used to build the information flow. You can add web pages, add input and output fields to the pages and specify how the pages would be shown to the user. The output of this software is a flow file in XML format. For example sf-PersonalInfo.xml.
The Spikeflow Runtime is a web application running on top of your Web Server (such as Apache Tomcat or IBM Websphere). It is where you host your flows so users can access them. For example, sf-PersonalInfo.xml would be copied to a folder accessible to the Spikeflow Runtime, and users would view it through their Web Browsers over the Internet by typing a URL such as: http://www.acme.com/flowPreview.html?flowId=1&flowName=sf-PersonalInfo.xml
5. What is free and what do I have to pay for?
The
Spikeflow Creator Demo is free. So is the Spikeflow
On-line Test Runtime. You can build your flows and host them on our Test Runtime and see how they work. You can also let others see the demo flows you build. You can update your flow structures and contents as and when you wish. The free version serves as a proof of concept for Spikeflow.
If you wish to host your flows permanently on your own Web Server you have to purchase a Creator License and Runtime License, sold together as a starter package. You could also purchase additional Creator and Runtime licenses as required. Please refer to our purchase options.
